6.8 Write full sentences when tone is an issue

All too often, writers hint at their nervousness over the need to deal with potentially emotional issues by using sentence fragments when the formal courtesy of a full sentence would be more effective. So a writer might put down this:

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Faced with this slap-dash gesture toward an apology, the reader might well feel more insulted than assuaged. Beware.
