Buzz words, the nonspecific jargon of an industry, tend to be vague, though often they are irresistible. Technical language tends to be accurate, though whether to use it without definition depends on your audience. In writing about data processing, you may find words like reside or environment almost unavoidable, but they are probably buzz words.
