6.3 Remove hostile words

You would probably omit any obviously hostile words; you're unlikely to call someone names in business writing. However, remember that certain words always have hostile connotations. For instance, in the sentence "The X-Clerk claimed to have no knowledge of the procedure," claimed would seem hostile if the X-Clerk read the writing. Claim seems to connote allege as if the claimer were a liar.
